Easter is the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The holiday is a combination of two words: "Easter," which comes from the Hebrew word " Pesach," which means "passover," and "holiday," which comes from the Anglo-Saxon word "hlid," meaning "a day off." When Jesus was arrested in AD 30, he was taken before the Roman governor Pontius Pilate to answer for his alleged crimes. Pilate asked, “What is truth?” To this question, Jesus replied, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” Jesus explained that he had come to serve and not be served.

He also told Pilate that only God's grace gave him life and that his mission was not to condemn but to save. This is why he said that he did not want to die on a cross, because it would be sinful for him to do all that he had done if he were merely granted life through his death. For this reason, Jesus died because God loves us and wants us to live forever through Christ's sacrifice on Calvary.

And Easter celebrates this great event! It is an important time in our lives when we remember the victor over sin and death; we remember our savior and how we can live our lives by serving others and doing what pleases God.
